It truly is a visual world out there.
FIRST it was revealed that properties marketed with a floor plan receive 30% more interest than those that don’t have one.*
THEN it was confirmed that 85% of consumers, including sellers, consider floor plans to be a necessary feature in property marketing – in fact the majority found them essential*.
NOW, a new survey undertaken by The Digital Property Group has disclosed that floor plans are considered even more important by consumers than detailed room descriptions. And, as we had suspected, the demand for interactive plans (floor plans that incorporate photographs) is growing rapidly. While we already knew interactive plans were fast becoming the new 'best thing' … it transpires that 32% of those interviewed now put them into the “essential” category.
And interactive plans aren’t only a bonus for buyers (who enjoy a “one-stop-shop” preview of the size, layout and position of the room, alongside a high-resolution image of its aesthetic properties). They also arm agents with an effective alternative to the traditional way of displaying photos online and, still in their ‘novelty’ phase – they provide a competitive advantage for the early adopters. And, as announced in a June entry on this blog, (see “Major portals support using floor plan URLs”) the portals have embraced the ability to use them on their sites.
