New Today: Colour plans, photos on plans, 3D in Google Earth

Today has seen another significant update to the Metropix service, with the addition of several new features:

• Colour floor plans.  Your plans can now be upgraded, free of charge, so that the rooms are coloured according to a set scheme.  We'll be adding many further options to customise this shortly.
• PicturePlus plans.  PicturePlus allows you to drag and drop camera icons onto your plans, which then expand to show your photos when clicked.  There's also a photo slide-show which accepts high-resolution pictures straight from your digital camera and displays them full-screen.
• Inside 3DGE™.  Inside 3DGE takes your plans and turns them into 3D models in virtual environments such as Google Earth, ready to explore inside and out.

A number of minor improvements have also been included, such as the ability to access Metropix using any browser and computer.  This allows use of AutoDraw and all the upgrade options above on your choice of system.  Support for online plan drawing in Firefox, on the Mac and on Linux is currently being prepared by Microsoft.
